The Different Types of Kia UVO

Kia Motors is one automaker that has always been on top of things. With a lineup that’s ever-growing with alternative fuel options, Kia Motors is set to become an all-electric automaker with concepts like the upcoming Kia Futuron. With the automaker placing a focus on purpose-built vehicles, sedans, and even micro electric vehicles, what comes next from Kia Motors is anyone’s guess. There is another part of technology from Kia Motors that’s also been slowly growing, and it gives consumers a whole new way to “connect” with their automobile. It’s the UVO infotainment system, and it has the attention of a renowned name in the automotive world – J.D. Power.

The Kia UVO infotainment system has come a long way. What started as a simple infotainment system that did most of the basic things – play music, navigate, make phone calls – the system eventually evolved. Although Kia Motors isn’t known to hold out on high tech for high-end trims, the new UVO system actually wasn’t made available on all trims of some of the new models. The new 2020 Kia Telluride and 2020 Kia Seltos offer the UVO but depending on the trim consumers may get a different version.

Right now, we’re looking at three types of the UVO system: UVO Play, UVO Link, and UVO Link with Navigation. What was once an all-in-one system has now been separated, but that might not be a bad thing. Models that just come with UVO Play focus on compatible smartphone technology like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capability via a USB cable that allows consumers to use their phone’s navigation, calls, messages, and music in place of an upgraded infotainment system.

Now, if consumers want a little more for their dollar, UVO Link offers more than just entertainment. Once known for its car-connected services, UVO allowed drivers to check-in on their vehicles from afar. This gave consumers on-demand vehicle diagnostics, maintenance alerts, security features, rear seat reminders, enhanced roadside assistance, and even emergency contact services should the need for emergency assistance arise. This system was also optimized for electric vehicles (EVs), complete with a vehicle charging schedule, charging stats, low battery alerts, and a charging station finder.

One more step up is UVO Link with Navigation. This is an easy guess. It’s UVO Link, but with navigation features. UVO Link with navigation adds My POIs (points of interest) and Map Care to the infotainment system, allowing users of Google Maps to transfer data from their smartphone into the UVO system once connected. It’s all coming together – literally.

Know what’s better than a vehicle with all of the latest tech? A vehicle with the latest style. The 2020 Kia Seltos from Kia Motors is a compact SUV that shares the X-Line of Kia Motors vehicles. Like the GT-line, the X-Line has its own additions to a model that separates it from the rest of the lineup. The first iteration of this appeared on the Kia Soul with a rounded grille, unique wheels, and a roof rail for going off-road. Designed for improved capability, the X-Line of the Kia Seltos comes in two versions, X-Line Trail Attack and X-Line Urban to offer off-road capability and added functionality with a custom two-inch lift kit, auxiliary lights, off-road tires, and more.
